Throughout the game, character dialogue makes references to psychological trauma that some may find distressing or disturbing, Santa Ragione warned. There is a long list of content warnings, including physical violence, psychological abuse, gory imagery (mutilation, blood), depictions of slavery, torture, domestic abuse, sexual assault and substance abuse. Horses, directed by Andrea Lucco Borlera and developed by Santa Ragione, the Milan-based studio behind Saturnalia, takes inspiration from silent cinema, Surrealism and the Grotesque.
